About the West Midlands
Located in the Heart of England the term "West Midlands" is used to describe both the County and the Regional Area.
West Midlands as a County is home to the Cities and Towns of Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton.
The Region known as the West Midlands comprises of West Midlands as a County and parts of the Counties of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
The West Midlands Region contains five Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs), including all of the Shropshire Hills, Malvern Hills and Cannock Chase
while parts of the Wye Valley, the Cotswolds and the Peak District national park also fall within the Region.
Birmingham is at the centre of the West Midlands and is home to the National Exhibition Centre (NEC),
National Indoor Arena (NIA), International Convention Centre (ICC), Symphony Hall, the Bullring Shopping Centre and Birmingham International Airport.
